Our vision is to build up, engage, and empower young women through the game of volleyball. Beginning in adolescence, young women face innumerable worldly forces seeking to shrink them away from purpose. But young women who participate in sports exhibit higher self-confidence, increased cardiovascular health, and even reduced risk of depression. Volleyball provides a beautiful and elaborate metaphor for life—trusting one’s self and investing in the collective team. When we teach technical skills, practical game understanding, and the ability to trust ourselves in the moment, we foster lessons beyond the gym.
My personal mission is to bring and grow volleyball to 10,000 new young women. The game of volleyball has been a blessing in my life since seventh grade. Since then, I’ve played at multiple levels: varsity, junior college, college club, and adult co-ed and coached athletes from elementary school to high school seniors. Now, as the Director of Volleyball for the Norman Optimist Club, I do my best to expand the game for young ladies in second grade through eighth grade in and around Norman.
